Who we are

CCH Bible Together is Christchurch Harpenden's Bible reading app: the church's "Read the Bible in 4 Years" daily plan and book-by-book Bible studies. It is free, has no adverts, and does not sell or share personal data. Questions about this policy or your data can be sent to the contact address at the end.

What the app collects

To work, the app keeps a small amount of information about you:

• Your email address and a password, used only to sign you in. The password is stored as a hash, never in plain text.
• Which reading plan you chose (Full or Lite) and the date you started it.
• The dates on which you marked a reading complete. Your streak is worked out from these and is not stored separately.
• Which Bible study sessions you have completed.
• Your reminder time, if you turn reminders on. This stays on your phone and is never sent anywhere.

What the app does not collect

• No analytics, tracking, advertising identifiers or crash reporting.
• No location, contacts, photos or other phone data.
• No record of which Bible passages you open or how long you read.

Where your data is stored

Your account, plan, completed dates and completed study sessions are stored with Supabase, our hosting provider, in a data centre in London (AWS eu-west-2). A copy of your plan, completed dates and study progress is also kept on your phone so the app works offline. Access to the server data is restricted so that each account can only see its own rows.

Bible text from other publishers

When you choose to read in the ESV or the NIV, the app asks our server for the passage, and our server fetches it from Crossway (ESV) or API.Bible (NIV). Only the Bible reference is sent to them, never your identity, email or any account details. The World English Bible is built into the app and needs no request at all.

How long we keep your data

Your data is kept for as long as you have an account. When you delete your account, everything held about you on the server is removed immediately, and the copies on your phone are cleared.

Deleting your data or your account

To delete your data but keep your account, open Account from the home screen and choose "Delete my data, keep my account". This removes your plan, your completed dates and your study progress from the server and from all your phones; your email address and sign-in are kept so you can start again.

To delete everything, choose Delete account instead. This removes your account, your plan, your completed dates and your study progress from the server and from your phone. It cannot be undone.

If you no longer have the app installed, email the contact address below from the email address of the account and ask for it to be deleted. We will confirm when it is done, normally within a few days.

Children

The app is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect data from them.

Changes to this policy

If the policy changes, the date at the top will be updated and the new version shown in the app and at the address where this policy is published.
